Message from the Dean
Welcome to ISU. I am excited about the opportunities we have to work together in continuing to build the programs within the college of Engineering to world-class levels. Each department is led by a department chair who has specific strategies for improving our already strong undergraduate and graduate offerings. We are developing new opportunities for you to participate in research projects at all levels consistent with the goals of President Vailas, and leading to expanded opportunities in working with the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) and with regional industries. The Center of Advanced Energy Studies involves the INL and other Idaho universities in a successful cooperative venture that includes research and graduate studies.
We offer five undergraduate programs and a variety of interdisciplinary graduate programs leading to both Master of Science and Doctoral degrees. All of our undergraduate programs are accredited by ABET, Inc., our national accrediting agency. We are strengthening our assessment of both courses and programs consistent with our continuous improvement objectives for each of the programs and with the requirements of ABET Inc. Our faculty will be involving students in these assessments beginning early each year. Our objective is to provide our students with the best possible education to prepare them to be successful in professional practice and to be leaders among their peers. We know they are the reason we are here and we are making our best effort to make the ISU educational experience rewarding and exciting. Please let our office know how we can assist you in any way.
