Progeny
Progeny is the server for our main Instructional Laboratory.Progeny contains 2 dual core Opteron Italies that run at 2.6 GHz. It has 6 GB of RAM and plenty of disc space.
Progeny is used as an LTSP server. The laboratory is full of Pentium 4/ VIA diskless thin clients with 512 mb to 1gb of memory, that run most of the things they do off of progeny. However, some of the functionality, such as firefox and (hopefully soon) virtual machines will run directly on the thin clients.
